Local photos and data
PicLoom requires no account. Review and visual recognition run on your device. Decisions, daily allowance usage, stories, moods and previews are stored in app containers; the app and its widgets share review data through an App Group. Original media stays in Photos.
Optional online services
When a story uses photo location metadata, Apple geocoding and Open-Meteo can receive coordinates and the photo date. PicLoom does not request your current location. Cloud stories are off by default. After consent, your chosen provider receives day summaries; compressed images require a separate opt-in. Local photo identifiers and coordinate cache keys are excluded from cloud summaries.
Keys and purchases
Your own API key is stored in Keychain and sent over HTTPS to your chosen endpoint for authentication. Redirects are not followed. Apple processes Pro purchases and restores using your App Store account; PicLoom does not receive payment card details.
Reminders and diagnostics
Daily reminders are optional local notifications with generic text. Error codes and system performance summaries stay on device until you choose to share a report. Reports exclude photos, identifiers, locations, story text and API keys. No advertising or tracking SDK is included.
Backups and your controls
App data is included in device backups when enabled; this does not provide live cross-device sync. Keys are device-only. You can change Photos and notification permissions in iOS Settings. Resetting review history keeps daily usage, lifetime totals and stories. Photo deletion always requires system confirmation. Story write failures preserve the current content for retry, and a previous saved version is retained when available.
