A story starts with what you want to remember. Open today or a day from years ago, and write a few lines. Add pictures, keep only words, or save a page of pictures without a title. You do not need AI to begin.
Choose the pictures that belong on this page
Tap a thumbnail to select it; the separate view or play button lets you look closer first. Choosing pictures does not automatically identify people or objects, add labels to your writing, or call AI. An optional context note can hold a detail that only you know. It stays separate from the story and is not printed on the share card.
A little help, on the same page
If you want writing help, connect your own OpenAI-compatible service and choose “Help me write.” With an empty page, the suggestion appears in the editor and can be changed or undone. If you have already written something, read the suggestion before choosing to adopt it. Your previous words remain available, and an old response cannot replace edits you made while waiting.
Opening a day or saving API settings does not call AI. Writing, saving, choosing pictures and making a share card work without a key. Your provider sets its own usage charges; the app does not automatically retry a failed paid request.
You choose what leaves your phone
Check the displayed material before each request. Your service receives the writing and notes you confirm. Sending pictures requires separate consent: at most six selected, compressed still photos or video covers, up to 640 pixels. Original videos, sound, Live Photo motion and unselected pictures are not sent. Local photo identifiers and coordinate keys are omitted. Your key stays in Keychain and is used to authenticate to the endpoint you choose.
AI can still make mistakes. It should not invent relationships, feelings or events from a picture. Read the suggestion and keep only the words that are right for your day.
A page worth sharing
Open “Share this page” to see a warm paper card. Keep the story’s pictures, choose all accessible pictures from that day, or make a separate selection just for sharing. The story itself keeps its original selection. The date stays with the day you wrote about.
Tap a font sample to try a different handwriting or a quiet book style. Samples use your own words, and the app offers handwriting only when it supports those characters. Your last choice is remembered on this device. The preview, saved image and shared image use the same layout; changing the font does not rewrite the story.
Video and Live Photo images on this card are still covers. Sharing does not turn a draft into a saved story. The card stays on your device until you choose Save or a system share destination.
Keep your words
Drafts and saved stories are stored separately on your device. Only an explicit Save updates the saved story and its widget content. If saving fails, your exact words remain available to retry. Keep device backups, and keep the original pictures in Photos: an independent, durable copy of each story picture is still being developed.
